Editorial. University Information Systems: Innovations and Challenges
The two-year period 2024-2025 is characterised by a series of initiatives aimed at renewing technologi-
cal services and infrastructures, destined to profoundly transform the university and the entire academic
community. The year 2024 began with a major technological and organisational investment, which led to the
renewal and rationalisation of the University portal, the websites of the 13 Departments, the Faculty of Medi-
cine and Surgery and the School of Engineering. There are many changes that the Athenaeum’s web system
will bring in the short term, among them, a primary objective will be to ensure the security of the IT network.
The 2023-2025 three-year plan for Unimore’s Digital Transition also envisages the migration of the Univer-
sity’s data centre to the regional Lepida Data Centre “Modena Innovation Hub”, a class A infrastructure with
advanced security, scalability, business continuity and disaster recovery requirements. Part of the services
will be further migrated to cloud platforms. The management and delivery of all these services is the result
of a team effort, essential to keep the University at the forefront of the university landscape.
