New PhD in innovative health technologies and products kicks off

A new PhD programme called HIP-TECH - Health Innovative Products and Technologies, promoted by the
Dept. of Life Sciences with the Dept. of Metabolic Biomedical Sciences and Neurosciences, the Dept. of
Maternal, Child and Adult Medical and Surgical Sciences and the Dept. of Surgical, Medical, Dental and
Morphological Sciences with a focus on Transplantology, Oncology and Regenerative Medicine, has been
launched. The HIP-Tech doctorate aims to train experts in the field of technologies and products for human
and animal health and aims to integrate academic research and industrial applications in the health sector,
covering all steps from the conception of new technologies to clinical trials. It is divided into two curricula:
Health Products and Health Technologies. The first curriculum places special emphasis on drug delivery with
the aim of understanding and optimising drug delivery processes to ensure the efficacy and safety of treat-
ments. On the other hand, the second curriculum focuses on the acquisition of specific skills in the clinical
transfer and pre-clinical phase, with a focus on diseases of significant impact and interest in health. The
programme’s vision is to train a new generation of researchers capable of driving innovation in the field of
health, making the most of synergies between medicine, engineering and advanced technologies.
