Editorial: University Research Funding (FAR) 2025
The University Funding for Research (FAR) is a fundamental tool to strengthen Unimore’s role as a re-
search university, both locally and internationally. In the University Strategic Plan, funding for research has
increased, with a forecast of EUR 3 million in 2025, compared to EUR 1.5 million in 2020. FAR initiatives,
including FAR Pulse, FAR Instrumentation, FAR Departments and FAR Projects, have been modified and
adapted over time according to the needs of researchers. Funded projects include activities such as the
recruitment of young researchers, PhD scholarships, and support for innovative project ideas. The adoption
of the Reggio Emilia quota in 2024 has made it possible to rebalance funding for the Reggio Emilia depart-
ments. The results are positive, with an increase in research grants and international publications. The fund-
ing system continues to evolve, with a focus on research quality and effectiveness.
