The President of the Republic attended the inauguration ceremony of Unimore’s 847th Academic
Year
Unimore inaugurated its 847th Academic Year with an important ceremony at the Valli Theatre in Reggio
Emilia, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, Senator Anna Maria Bernini, au-
thorities, Unimore staff and students. The Academic Year 2022-2023 coincided with the 25th anniversary of
the establishment of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The University has in fact been a network
of sites since 1998 and the city of Reggio Emilia, where there are three important Departments and numer-
ous Degree Programmes, has joined that of Modena. The twenty-five years since the establishment of the
Reggio Emilia campus are a demonstration of the success of this fully realised model of university organisa-
tion: it is almost a unicum in the Italian academic reality, together with very few other cases, which confirms
that cooperation and the ability to network between neighbouring territories constitutes an opportunity for
mutual enrichment and growth. The inauguration of the Academic Year was also an occasion to talk about
planning and programme guidelines.
