ITSERR rafforzerà RESILIENCE l’infrastruttura

di ricerca europea per le scienze religiose

ITSERR will strengthen RESILIENCE, the European research infrastructure for religious sciences

ITSERR is a project funded by the NRRP - National Recovery and Resilience Plan and is designed to
strengthen RESILIENCE, the European research infrastructure for religious sciences, whose scientific coor-
dinator is Prof. Alberto Melloni. Resilience is the only Italian-led organisation in the humanities and social
sciences and became part of the ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) Roadmap
in 2021. The ITSERR project stems from the needs of the scientific community of Religious Sciences to in-
novate and make the best use of existing or new technologies for the development of knowledge about the
experience of faith, which is analysed with methods and tools from many disciplines, history and linguistics,
material sciences and semiotics, law and theology. ITSERR aims to transform the scientific community of
Religious Sciences from a mere agent of the implementation of established technologies to a driver of a
new encounter with what Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and High Performance Computing can currently
offer. The partners in the project - the only one in Italy that directly involves universities at partnership level
- are the CNR, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Palermo, the University of Turin
and the University of Naples ‘L’Orientale’. For Unimore, which is being awarded a funding of over 5 million
euro, the operational units will be the Department of Education and Human Sciences and the ‘Enzo Ferrari’
Department of Engineering. The project will be up and running from 1 November this year and will involve
13 PhD students among others at Unimore.
