Building the future: Unimore’s path among education, research and social commitment

This issue of Focus, the 42nd, is an opportunity to reflect on a journey that has involved the entire commu-
nity of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and which, as well as representing a constant editorial
commitment, is a showcase for the scientific and cultural dynamism of our University. Indeed, Focus has
made it possible to share the numerous initiatives, research and training activities conducted over the years
at the university. This December issue deals with various topics that show the plurality of our activities: ad-
vances in gene therapy and the treatment of rare diseases, innovation in robotic surgery, research into gen-
der issues and the prevention of violence. Our mission is not only educational and scientific, but also human
and social: we are called upon to be bearers of peace and good practices for a fair and inclusive society.
