Towards a more attractive and inclusive university
As the new academic year begins, greetings and best wishes go out to the entire academic community and
the freshmen entering Unimore.
The title of this editorial echoes that of the Three-Year Development Programme 2021-2023 (PRO3) of the
University of Modena and Reggio Emilia aimed at developing the university’s progress and evolution.
Students are the core around which the university’s activities are shaped, with a focus on creating high qual-
ity learning spaces. Unimore is investing in modern infrastructure, improving energy efficiency and collabo-
rating with local stakeholders to expand and renovate existing facilities.
Another key point is financial support for students, highlighting an ongoing effort to ensure accessibility to
higher education. This includes transport facilities, tutoring programmes and support for students with dis-
abilities. Unimore is also recognised as the lead agency for the Universal Civil Service in the Emilia-Romagna
region.
The link between research and education is a fundamental characteristic of the university. Efforts are
focused on recruiting high-calibre lecturers from other institutions and countries, bringing in new experi-
ence and expertise. In addition, there is a commitment to increase training for technical-administrative staff,
including the promotion of agile working and qualification through internal and external courses.
These actions aim to improve the quality of education, research and organisational well-being, contributing
to the cultural and economic growth of the territories served by the university.
Renewing Unimore’s constant commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, a warm wish
to all for a Happy Academic Year 2023/2024.
