HiPeRT: a cutting-edge ecosystem in automotive and related technologies
The High-Performance Real-Time Laboratory (HiPeRT Lab) is an innovative ecosystem established in 2014
within UNIMORE, led by Professor Marko Bertogna. The lab, comprising around 80 researchers, special-
ises in embedded and real-time systems, with applications in areas such as autonomous driving, artificial
intelligence, and high-performance systems. In 2016, the lab gained recognition for its success in the field
of autonomous vehicles, helping position UNIMORE as a global reference point. Subsequently, HiPeRT Lab
founded two spin-offs: Hipert Srl, focused on autonomous driving, and Minerva Systems Srl, specialising in
software for embedded systems. In the field of autonomous driving, HiPeRT has participated in international
events such as the Indy Autonomous Challenge and Roboracer. The ecosystem has effectively integrated
university research with industry, fostering a technology transfer process that generates job opportunities
and creates synergy between academia and industry. Moreover, the lab has enriched UNIMORE’s educa-
tional offerings by introducing innovative courses and contributing to the Formula Student Driverless team.
