Understanding Gender Based Violence - GBV in Italian Universities
he “Understanding Gender Based Violence in Italian Universities” project, PRIN 2020, led by Unimore togeth-
er with Milan, Turin, and La Sapienza University in Rome, has investigated gender-based violence in Italian
universities. The research, conducted using both quantitative and qualitative methods, aims to understand
the extent and characteristics of violence, including sexual harassment. The project will conclude with a
conference on 4th April in Modena, where the results and recommendations for addressing the issue will be
presented. Professor Laura De Fazio highlights the importance of this study, emphasizing the growing global
awareness of the issue and the high prevalence of gender-based violence in the academic context. The data
collected includes a review of international literature, a questionnaire distributed to university members, and
interviews with experts and victims to map prevention measures. The conference will also serve as an op-
portunity for exchange between sector experts and to present related European and national projects.
