The PhD in Reggio Childhood Studies: an innovative contribution to research in the edu-
cation field

The third edition of the residential PhD programme in International Industrial Research in Reggio
Childhood Studies - From Early Childhood to Lifelong Learning, will start in November. It is promoted
by the Department of Education and Human Sciences of Unimore and by the Fondazione Reggio
Children-Loris Malaguzzi Centre, and inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, a philosophy linked to
early childhood born in Reggio Emilia and representing a heritage of great international importance.

By sharing work spaces and hours, participants will address disciplines such as pedagogy, sociology,
psychology, and will be able to integrate as top figures in the design and cultural and pedagogical
coordination of educational services with pedagogical research programmes. The programme will
be coordinated by Professor Alberto Melloni, Director of the Department of Education and Human
Sciences, and by Carla Rinaldi, President of Fondazione Reggio Children; the Teaching Body will

boast internationally renowned important scholars.
There are 19 PhD students currently enrolled in the programme, coming from Italy and abroad, who
will be integrated with the applicants admitted this year, as of November 2021.
