ECLIPS: Unimore impegnata in

un progetto volto a contrastare la

        violenza domestica nelle vittime più

        giovani

ECLIPS: Unimore has engaged in a project to fight domestic violence in younger victims

Child care professionals are an important resource in screening for signs and symptoms of violence
and support infants and their families in managing traumatic events; therefore, they are privileged
observers as they accompany children in their daily life, and are essential when any violence takes

place within the family. The ECLIPS project, which involves the University of Modena and Reggio
Emilia, the “Centre Dardedze” (Latvia), the Leuven-Limburg University (Belgium) and the Pressley
Ridge (Hungary), was created on this delicate theme and is financed by the programme “Rights,
equality and citizenship (REC)” of the European Union in the framework of the convention aimed to
fight domestic violence in younger victims, that is children between the ages of 0 and 3. Scree-
ning of extremely vulnerable children who are not yet able to communicate is delicate and complex
and often sees educators insecure about their skills or the authority required to act. The project
aims to fill the knowledge gaps of childcare professionals by providing appropriate training and
screening and referral tools for the recognition of signs and symptoms, as well as appropriate trai-

                   ning on trauma-informed care.
Professors Johanna Maria Catharina Blom, Alessia Cadamuro and Giovanna Laura De Fazio are
responsible for the project for Unimore. For more information, please visit the website: www.
